Chapter
5 Jehovah Yireh—How Do I Access the Provision of God?—Part Three

The name of
Elohim declares that Jehovah created and loves His creation. He loves mankind and is always working to support creation, to maintain it so it continues.

Psalm 8:3-9

3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? 5 You have made them a
little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. 6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet:  all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, 8 the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.

These verses make it clear that God is maintaining His creation for the benefit of mankind,
who in his own strength is incapable of caring for himself or the earth on
which he lives.  It is this attribute,  this love, that enabled the Triune God to covenant with Himself to provide the
sacrifice needed to cleanse mankind from his awful transgressions. The will of Elohim is to take care of His creation because He loves it and He is willing to make any provision, any sacrifice to bring mankind back into a right relationship with Himself.

Jehovah…Yahweh…I AM WHO I I AM…always has
been, is now, always will be. He is beyond human comprehension, transcendent,
yet, it is He who determined to create humanity. Why? I find myself thinking
about that a lot. He says it was for His glory.

Isaiah 43:7
every one that is called by my name, and whom I have created for my
glory, whom I have formed, yea, whom I have made

Why ?

He knew what we were going to be. He knew us when we were still a puddle of mud and clay. He
knew us when we were in the womb of our mothers, before our cells were knit together.  Psalm 139:13   For thou didst form my inward parts: Thou didst cover me in my mother’s womb.

Yet, clearly aware, omniscient of our capacity to sin, aware of the Hitler’s, Bill Gacey’s, Mousillini’s, and Caligula’s he went on with His plan. Painfully cognizant of every foul murder, sexual atrocity, and cruel act toward the innocent; with full knowledge of our ability to lie, misrepresent, cheat, and lust… He created us anyway. Of course he knew about the Mother Theresa’s of humanity, but were they enough to offset the hideous reality of the mind of man?  He knew what we would be, yet He declared that He would defer His anger and refine us!

Isaiah 48:9-11  For my
name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

10 Behold, I have
refined thee, but not as silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

11 For mine own sake, for mine own sake, will I do it; for how should my name be profaned? and my
glory will I not give to another.

Jesus said none of us are good.  Romans 3:10. as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one;

I could not sacrifice my son for the likes of these. But this He determined to do, before their creation? It is beyond the feeble understanding of mankind.  God has a capability for love that is beyond
our understanding.  It is a consuming love, passionate, capable of forgiving, and redeeming.  It was a love that was willing to make whatever sacrifice was necessary to save the object of His love.  Having determined to create man and provide a plan of redemption when man failed and proved himself unfit for fellowship with
the Father, He began to build a creation that would provide an ecosystem, an orderly universe full of beauty as well as provision for every need of man.  Then He created man in His own image.  From the beginning man was intended to reflect the glory of God.  He was to multiply and fill the earth, so the knowledge of God’s glory would cover the sea.  And what is the definition of God’s glory?  God’s glory is the perfect musical harmony of His Names, His attributes, as they merge into infinity and reveal one perfect, beautiful, and personal being, resonating with warmth, love and wisdom.

Would a God like this want to hear from me or from you? Would this God care about our daily need? 1 John 4:8  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

God is love and the nature of love is to focus on others.  John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.  Because God is love He can be depended on to be true to His nature.   The evidence of His love is throughout the Bible.  Jehovah
is faithful to fulfill His promises. Jehovah determined to bring us into being with free will even though He knew it would break His heart. Doubtless He sees something that makes it all worthwhile, not in us certainly, but in His divine will, He sees an objective that will magnify His glory and accomplish His divine will. The characteristic of love is seen in Elohim, who wants to cherish us and sustain us. The characteristic of El Shaddai shows us the power and abundance available to us and Jehovah Jireh is the one who provides. He is the one who takes care of the problems. In Jehovah is the love, the sustenance, the power and the ability to provide for our needs.

So why do we go without? Why do face need of any kind? If He loves us so much, where is He? We can see that He determined before time to love us and care for us. We can see that He loves and cherishes His creation and has the power, abundance, and sufficiency to nourish and care for us. And we can see that He has determined to take care of us. We can see He wants to, He can, and He does provide for our needs, yet so often we weep because He is not answering our prayers. How can we access the power and love promised to us?  We will discuss this question and look for answers in the following studies.
